Working House Fire Quickly Knocked Down by Department.

Hawthorne FD, EMS, and PD units were dispatched to a working house fire at 176 N. Ethel Avenue, Hawthorne late Friday evening, 08/05. The fire reportedly started under the rear deck and extended up the rear of the house and into the attic. An adult male resident sustained a minor leg injury during the blaze; he was treated at the scene by Hawthorne EMS personnel. The fire was placed under control within 20 minutes of the first arriving fire trucks. Significant damage occurred to the rear of the home and the deck with smoke damage through the home.
