Fire Prevention

Every day Americans experience the horrors of fire. Unfortunately, most people do not understand fire. Only when we know the true nature of fire can we prepare ourselves and our families.

Each year an unbelievable 4,500 Americans die and more than 30,000 others are injured in fires. Many of these are casualties and injuries which could be prevented. The United States Fire Administration believes that fire deaths can be reduced by teaching people the basic facts about fire.

Hawthorne currently utilizes the enhanced 911 emergency dialing system for the entire Borough.

We the members of the Hawthorne Volunteer Fire Department are dedicated to community service.

Our Mission

Our mission as volunteer members of the emergency services is to serve our community by providing quality and effective emergency response as well as to furnish our citizens with a fire prevention and awareness education that will ultimately minimize the loss of life and property resulting from fires and other hazardous conditions. We will train our members to provide the best possible service to the residents in and around the Borough of Hawthorne.
