Junior Firefighters

The Jr. Firefighter Explorer program has been designed for teenagers between the ages of 14 and 18 who have an interest in helping others and learning more about the fire service. Students that enroll in this program will attend classes in order to begin their training. The following are just a few of the classes that are included:

  • Fire Prevention
  • Fire Behavior
  • Engine and Truck Company Operations
  • Ropes and Knots
  • Basic First Aid and CPR

After successful completion of the classes, Jr. firefighters will rotate every four months between one engine company, the tower company, and the rescue company. This rotation will allow Jr. firefighters to experience many of the tasks and functions performed by each type of fire company. It will also allow them to meet a majority of the fire department members and experience what life is like at each firehouse
