HFD spent the last 2 nights out on extended calls

06/23/2023 – Members of the HFD spent the last 2 nights out on extended calls during through the night. Shortly after midnight yesterday morning the department was dispatched for smoke in the basement in a occupied multiple dwelling. On arrival of HPD and Chief Speranza a heavy smoke condition was found in an apartment from an oven fire that appeared to be out on arrival. Members operated for over an hour ventilating the home and checking for extension. Approx 3:51am this morning Engine 1 was requested into Wyckoff for a 2nd alarm house fire. Initially dispatched for coverage Engine 1 was redirected to assist at the fire scene while enroute. Shortly after Rescue 5 was requested for coverage. (Photo below of Wyckoff fire courtesy of BNN)
