The Hawthorne Fire Department is comprised of an all volunteer force. We are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Emergencies know no time or season. In order to provide the very best services to our customers we rely on many different people from many different walks of life. We are able to do what we do because of our many dedicated volunteers.

The tasks that we perform and the challenges we face make us a very unique organization. We work together closely in the worst situations under tough conditions. We also enjoy each other’s company under more social atmospheres. These situations create the family that we are.

You can become a member the Hawthorne Fire Department – the only cost to you is your time. Please visit the rest of this website to see the many different facets that comprise the Hawthorne Fire Department. There is a job that nearly anyone can perform within our organization. You don’t necessarily have to be the one dragging hose down a smoke filled hallway to be a viable, contributing member of the department. There are several support functions to choose from. We have a Junior Firefighter program and a Ladies Auxiliary. Those wishing to be front line firefighters will attend fire school and receive progressive training at our County Fire Academy. Continuing education is also available to you in the event you wish to pursue a leadership position within the department. The possibilities are limited only by you.

Even if you are unsure, please stop by your nearest firehouse and speak to some our members. They will be happy to answer any of your questions.
