The HFD was toned out at 8:52 this morning for a motor vehicle accident on Rt. 208 South just south of the Goffle Road exit. A dump truck overturned, lost its load and hit a box truck and a car. Chief Speranza arrived on scene and directed Engine Co. #1 (OIC A/C J. Counsellor) and Rescue Co. #5(OIC Lt. E. Sutherland) to proceed in as other units were held in quarters. Engine 1 and Rescue 5’s manpower were directed to assist the Ambulance Corps with packaging and removing the victims from the vehicles. One victim was located on top of the overturned vehicle and was unconscious. Firefighters worked with EMS to get the driver on a backboard and down to ground level. The southbound side of Rt. 208 had to be shut down during this incident. Once all victims were removed by ambulance, wreckers from Classic Towing righted the dump truck and firefighters attended to the fluid spill. All agencies, fire, police, ambulance, and DOT, worked well together to mitigate the incident and clear the scene.
